A quick update

Just a quick one today! So there are a couple changes that you might have noticed already. That little wifi-looking symbol next to the site’s title is the link to the RSS feed for this blog. The file has always been available, but there was never anything really pointing to it.

For the uninitiated, RSS is just a simple way to collect the content you actually want to see in one place. It’s an old technology, but honestly in today’s (social) media landscape where everything is ruled by platforms and algorithms, it might be a good one to revisit so we can go back to curating our own internet media diets rather than being spoonfed whatever our benevolent tech overlords want us to see.

I have a few easy-to-use feed catchers linked in the post here.

Onto more obvious and exciting things. If you’re here, you’ve probably noticed that I got a custom domain! I’m now the proud owner of zions-garden.me for the time being XD. I have it set up so if you accessed it through the link you had before it should redirect to that link!

I also went ahead and got rid of that annoying side-bar with the word-count and time-to-read. It’s been bugging me for the longest time. Let me know if you want it back and I’ll see what I can do to make it less hideous and/or more useful.

Outside of that, I’ve been home for just about 2 weeks and in that time I, predictably, have managed to still be doing too much and am rather tired. There are still a lot of moving parts (pun not intended, but we’re keeping it) to this relocation that I haven’t ironed out just yet and balancing that along with spending time with my sisters, my friends and trying to build out a more robust community here akin to what I had in New York has really been taking it out of me. On top of that, my birthday is coming up and I don’t really have that planned out just yet, but I’m trying to take things one day at a time. I did promise myself to take a little Negril trip just for me and I need to get that set up before I properly get swept up in everything as I’m wont to do.

All told though, I’m doing mostly alright. Very much still at the beginning of the journey of learning how to rest 😅.
