The man with the hand wiper and the Pepsi bottle full of diluted dish detergent walks up the car expectantly. For once, I let him. He smiles wide, happy to have a customer that wasn't first a hostage this early in the morning.

Art and Fear

So as part of my partly self-imposed stint of unemployment, I’ve had a bit more time to read, which is a great thing for me. I’ve always found reading to be relaxing and informative by nature. In particular I’ve been reading Art & Fear: Observations on the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking by David Bayles and Ted Orland. It’s a book that wears its contents on its sleeve. It primarily concerns itself with the difficulties that artists face when trying to create their (our) work. It covers a range of these from the eternal feeling of being an imposter, the lie that we tell ourselves that “if I just do this then I’ll be an artist”, dealing with the desired to be accepted, perfectionism and a whole host of other, well, Perils™.

Redesign in Progress

Hello! It has once again been many months since I last updated this blog. One of the reasons for that is that I’ve found it less and less fun to get this blog to do what I want it to do. As a result, I’ve begun to spend some time making a theme for this site from scratch, which is proving to be a learning experience, but I’m excited about it as it means it will be a lot easier for me to to share some of my more tech-coded (I’m so funny) sketches and ideas with you all.

So this page is for one thing and one thing only: Fun little sites I’ve stumbled across on the internet. It will be updated whenever I stumble across a new fun little site on the internet. I want to do this because we live in a time where so much of the internet exists solely for commerce and the exchange of money or accumulation of capital that it’s nice to remember that people are and always will be creative and share that creativity with the whole world.
